My opinion of Vancouver has improved somewhat. Their airport is pretty darn neat; there's a giant aquarium in the international terminal! And free open internets in too, whee! A few more random opinions:

Skytrain: Totaly sweet. Cheap, fast, and trains run every 5 minutes! Very low hassle.
Bus system: Good and bad. The bus I took to get from downtown to the general vicinity of the airport was great. An automated system announced each stop on an LED runner board and verbally. The bus that ran the last leg to the airport was about the same as any other bus. The drivers in both cases were not that great, but didn't scare me to death either.

Random incident: I once again encountered a tripped out homeless guy threatening people (why does this happen every time I visit this city?) However, there happened to be a cop nearby who chatted with the guy and convinced him that he should chill out.

Cool.

The train ride up here was fantastic (Amtrak), even if I didn't get my "business class" seat (they refunded the 10 extra bucks). Beautiful scenery, and it went along speedily until we crossed into Canada, when the train slowed to a crawl.

I keep wanting to visit the science fiction and fantasy bookstore in Vancouver. Gotta do that and ride the Skytrain next time, since I've never done that either.

I've had the same experience with whacked-out street person every time I've been there, too.

Stop giving homeless guys psychedelics and this will stop. I know it's funny, but it isn't nice.

Are you or Ursula going to be back Seattle-wards around Aug. 1?
Brian will be there for Typecon and I might tag along.

Yeah, we'll totally be around then. We'd love to see you. :)

You're both welcome to crash at our place if you like.

Vancouver has the largest, most mad population of homeless in the westren hemisphere, and their numbers are growing every year. For real, most of them escaped the mental institution.
