So I've been in Oregon for a few days now.

My flights here on Friday after work were interesting, I noticed that while there were many people at the Cleveland airport, the vast majority of them were picking people up. I was expecting there to be a mass exodous, though it could have happened on Saturday. I'm certainly happy to be out of the city for a while.

I flew through Las Vegas, and the airport there has actually improved since my last time there. They have smoking lounges which are well ventilated, so the smoke is sucked away. I walked past a nearly full one of them half a dozen times, getting closer to the entrance with each iteration, and I never noticed the stench of cigarettes at all. Very well done. However, the "hub" where the various terminals meet was quite smoky, a bizarre inconsistency.

Spending time in Portland has been sort of depressing, in that it's an alive city. Things *happen* downtown, and people actually spend time there outside of work hours. It's not that I didn't realize this before, but not quite to this extent. Cleveland is, of course, a decaying husk compare to Portland. I've hardly spent any time downtown there, and I don't really regret it. I suppose the flats are fairly active at night, but that's not the sort of scene I'd want to be a part of... Blech.

I've seen a number of friends over the past few days, but regrettably wont get to see them all, as I go back to Cleveland on Wednesday morning. I really wish I could stay here longer.

Oh well.
