Moped, you wound me so.
So I was riding to Moped Monday tonight, full of joy and the freedom of summer, when my moped suddenly just stopped. It stopped harder than I think it could with both brakes down hard, so I was pretty worried. It didn't make any horrible clanking or scraping sounds, and it did start right up after a few seconds of bewilderment on the side of the road.
I think it may have soft-siezed. That's bad, but not the end of the world.
So I spent most of moped monday going over my bike looking for air leaks, and boy did I find a bunch. My stupid airbox has it's usual problems, so I covered up the holes I'd drilled in it and put a little tape over the intake just in case. The nut that holds the carb onto the intake was gone, so my carb was just flopping around letting tons of extra air in. And, my exhaust was loose, so it was leaking like mad there. After I fixed these things, I rode home at about 20mph, stopping to let cars past as I puttered home slowly. I didn't *have* to go that slowly, but I didn't want to ride at full throttle and risk another sieze.
A list of things that need fixin':
Once all of that is done, I get to retune it and hopefully get something close to reasonable performance out of it.

A list of things that need fixin':
- Replace the missing nut on the carb bolt
- Replace the missing screw on the throttle slide
- Get some sort of sealant for the exhaust (exhaust tape?) and replace the nut & bolt that holds it on.
- Find some sort of solution to keep that nut from coming loose (locktite just melts off)
- Fix the damn airbox, once and for all
Once all of that is done, I get to retune it and hopefully get something close to reasonable performance out of it.
