Hrm, It's been a while since my last substantial update.

First off:

I got into the EE department! Wohoo!

Ahem.

Other things I've been up to... We went to An Tir/West war two weeks ago, and I spent most of it making blanks for the commemorative medals. I cranked out about a thousand or so. Unfortunately the coin die died after ~500 strikes and we had to stop making them. This means less money for the guilds, but oh well. I also started working on my first die. The war was in very southern Oregon, and it took us ~10 hours to get there and ~8 to get back. $80 in gas, yow.

Earlier this week I went down to Master William's place in Olympia and continued working on my die. Did some engraving, some punchwork, and made more coin blanks (though this time for the royal presentation pieces.) We used a rolling mill to make sheets of pewter, but had to use hand shears to cut out the blanks. Yay for blisters. I also made my first punch, a simple decorative cross. Neat!

This weekend we went to July Coronation in Yakima, only about 3 hours away. We had to go over the mountains though, which made the gas mileage on my truck drop through the floor. We just barely finished setting up our tent as the sun went down (and it gets very dark very quickly there), and had a pleasant evening hanging out and drinking. I spent most of Saturday doing moneying stuff. I made a bunch more blanks, thankfully using a punch instead of shears, and Ian and I struck about 200 royal presentation pieces before giving up for the night. We also finished my die. After dinner I wasn't feeling so well, so I went to lie down and fell completely asleep. This morning we finished striking the 240 coins for their Majesties. I struck some coins with my die, and generally dithered around for a few hours before packing up and driving home.
