It turs out that the aforementioned nick in the face of my last coin die wasn't a nick at all! A small flat flake of pewter was merely stuck to the die. Normally these flakes can be removed with a brass brush, but this one was so resilient that I thought I had damaged the die. However, it came off easily when I pried at it with my scribing tool. So yeah, there are twenty or so limited edition coins with the defect floating around An Tir. :)
So yeah, I took most of my moneying gear down to Acorn War. Ian and I (with help from Elric and James) struck about 160 blanks, with just a handful of bad strikes. I did the hammer work on about half of them, which was good. I really need to make myself a trussel jig to make solo striking easier.
The event as a whole, especially
aelfgyfu's elevation, was really great.
In other news, I bought a wax carving tool yesterday, which should help me make a good mold for casting pewter ingots into.
