So yeah, I've been accepted into a number of beta tests recently for massively multiplayer online games. They are as follows, in chronological order:
Shadowbane. The game is out now, but I got to beta test it for a couple of intensly laggy weeks before release. I'm playing it on a semi-regular basis now, and it's amusing. Myself and a bunch of people I've been gaming with for the past few years have our own city up, dedicated to the All Father (the church of the cleansing flame). It's fun, and there are actually some roleplaying opportunities. We just need to flush the PK's out first.
Planetside. I actually know the main producer of this game, he was in my Everquest guild back in the day. I got into the "open" beta, which hasn't started yet. A bunch of people I know are going to play this, and it looks quite exciting.
Star Wars Galaxies. I've been a Star Wars nut since... well.. ever, but I'm not particularly excited about this game. It's by Verant, and doesn't seem to have much PvP. I did my time in EQ, thank you. I also had to pay $6 to get the beta CD for this game, bleh. I'm testing this one largely so I can articulate to my friends specifically why it sucks.
EVE. I'm not quite sure what to make of this game. I'm downloading the beta now, and it certainly looks pretty... Expect a more complete review sometime in the reasonably near future.
Of course with work + school, I have very little time to play games. Oh well.
In other news, Ursula received money from the University of Washington, so in all likelihood I will be moving back to the Northwest.
