(posting this with LochJournal, it seems pretty neat)

Saturday

So we didn't end up camping at Baron Wars, alas. [livejournal.com profile] alaric, Steve, Mathais, Crispin and I all day-tripped together, with Alaric and I driving. The site and weather were both beautiful - it was a warm sunny day with a good breeze blowing through the trees... I wish I had thought to take some pictures of the site, it's really quite fabulous. It's a fort from the war of 1812, with much earthen fortifications and a low wooden stockade interspersed with towers. There are a couple of decent photos on the Baron Wars site, and some more on the official site for the fort.

I did about half of the battles before calling it a day when several pieces of my armour failed at once. I broke a strap on my legs, a strap on my coat of plates, and my demi-gauntlet totally fell apart. The fighting was all quite good-natured, and it seemed that everyone had a good time. I got a mild sunburn, which is a very rare thing for me. I need to invest in a nice wide-brimmed hat.

Afterwards we went to an Outback steakhouse, where I had an extremely overpriced and not very good vegetable platter. Blech. We drove home afterwards and arrived in Cleveland just after 1 AM.

Sunday

I woke up around 10 AM, much to my annoyance. Goofed off for a couple of hours until Dave called me. He, Sean, Brian, and Paul were all around, so we met up and hung out until Paul had to leave for the airport. We ended up at Ari and Mike's apartment, and saw Jeremy as well. Later on some of us went to Quaker Steak and Lube (which has decent veggieburgers), went bowling, and watched The Big Lebowski.

Overall a great weekend, but I wish I had slept more.
