Yay for [profile] notacon!

A story on slashdot just appeared about Cleveland's very own "hacker" con! Wohoo. :D

Hmmm

I was looking at the picture pages for the last con (apparently this is the 2nd one). I couldn't quite figure out what they were doing. Apparently a handheld wirewrapper was demonstrated... Don't know why hackers would be so keen on wirewrappers but maybe they are very neat hackers....

Re: Hmmm

Well, that first picture relates to: Myself - Everything you ever wanted to know about telco and a little bit more

Though I'm not sure the relevance of the second one...

And yes, this is our second year.

Re: Hmmm

I should also point out that the recordings of one of the talk tracks from the first Notacon are online for those who might be interested in hearing the kinds of talks we had last year. :)

I'll be listening to those recordings, that's for sure.

i'm so amused by the "cleveland is midwest?!?" comments. i've always heard of cleveland as midwest, even though it's far closer to the east coast than the west. i guess i think of anything that 1) is on the atlantic ocean, or 2) is further east than a state that is on the atlantic, or 3) is one of the original 13 colonies (in case i missed some with the first two rules) is east, anything on the pacific ocean is west, and anything in between is midwest-ish. though, i suppose nevada, arizona, new mexico, and texas are more south-west than midwest, and louisiana, arkansas, and any states east of them are more south than midwest or east... but, well, my sense of geography has always been a bit screwy ;)
