- brewing:
I brew beer, and on rare occasions, mead. Brewing rules, it's about half the price of buying beer at the store, and often what I make is better! - coin minting:
I'm a member of the Moneyer's Guild of An-Tir (the MGoAT!). Medieval coins are way cool, and making coins that are inspired by them is even cooler. I can't wait until I'm fully set up to crank out coins, it'll be GREAT. I'm almost there, too. - dystopias:
I like books that surprise me. Ones where the hero dies suddenly, or everything goes flat out wrong ten pages before the end. Dystopias are the epitome of this; regardless of the main characters actions against their opressors, they are completely crushed. - history:
History is cool, yo. Learn and understand, lest ye be doomed to repeat it. - kinetic:
My moped is a kinetic. It's a wily beast that breaks down often. But I've learned a ton about fixing mopeds by working on it, often at the side of the road. - mead:
Mmm, mead. So good. I need to make more, but I lack the patience required to age it 6+ months these days. - mopeds:
Mopeds rock! 120+ mpg, pedals, and buzzy little engines. The smell of two-stroke oil is forever with me. I'm a proud member of the Mosquito Fleet, which is beyond awesome. - rabbits:
I had a rabbit when I was very young, I believe we named it thumper. It got sick and died after about a year, alas. Ursula's sister has rabbits, which are also cool. - society for creative anachronism:
The SCA is the medieval group that I'm a part of. It's hard to believe I've been playing for five years. My interests have varied over the years... I fight (occasionally), make coins, sew (occasionally), brew (often), and do various other little things. I'm also the president of the SCA group at UW. - unix:
UNIX rules. Especially free ones. I'm particularly fond of gentoo at the moment, partially because the idea is so hilarious. It's a rather well designed OS though, and fun!

Also consider the inverse; in Fahrenheit 451 the main character begins as the oppressor, but turns in the end and becomes one of the very few to escape. But even that supposedly happy ending has a vicious twist that turns the plot upside-down at the end. Thoroughly satisfying. :D
