woot

Our sensors design project was selected as the best in the class, and nominated for best in the department. We didn't win, but it's nice to be nominated (again ;) ).

Hi,

What was the topic of the project? It's always nice to be recognized for some hard work....

We used an array of bulk property chemical sensors to analyze a fairly large geographic area (the Union Bay Natural Area (http://depts.washington.edu/ubna/) for possible contamination from the landfill it sits on. Our method is quite cheap, relatively fast, and portable. It allows a very large number of samples to be analyzed (we did 50) for little cost. Our method identifies areas of concern that warrant further testing.

Analyzing a single sample in a lab costs about $600.
