Last night was the EE departmental graduation. They gave us all bumper stickers, and a purple UWEE mug.
I remember being fairly irritated at the whole idea of my high school graduation, but this one was different. It was, for one, short. There were no long flowery speeches about how we'd go out and change the world, or how each and every one of us is a unique delicate flower. Instead there was a 15 minute speech by an engineer who started a bunch of companies. He basically said "keep your skills sharp, and learn how to talk to people." It was fitting.
Even though I finished the program in December, the event brought a unique sense of closure to my undergraduate career. I had many friends in my class, and we all had a lovely time.

Feels good to walk, doesn't it?
I've long since lost the bumper sticker, and the mug has a chip on the rim, but I'm sure glad to have gone through the same grad ritual you just did.
Did you participate in the big, all campus ceremony this morning, too? In the rain, that was probably not too much fun for anyone....
Congrats again. What's next?

I just did the departmental graduation, since we're flying to Turkey for a week tomorrow morning!
I'm in the Ph.D. program here (UWEE), though I may just do a master's degree. I'm not entirely sure yet. I'm currently studying chemical sensors and doing some surface plasma resonance work. Fun stuff. :)
