I finally got the cylinder off of my "good" Peugeot engine. Plus, I got to use fire to do it! The basic problem was that the previous owner got paint all over the cylinder, which pooled in between the fins. The studs that pass through the cylinder are partially exposed, so they too were coated in paint. This wouldn't be that big of a deal, except that the threaded ends of the studs were catching on the dried paint, making it very hard to remove the cylinder (even with the engine in a vise.) I tried chipping away at the paint with a knife, but this was very slow.

So I took out my handy propane torch and burned it away. This had the added effect of causing the metal to expand, making removing the cylinder even easier!

Also, flywheel pullers are great.

Now to split the damn crankcase so I can get at the bearings... perhaps I'll use the torch again for this. :D

The kinetic isn't running so great. It does run, though, so I'm focusing all of my moped time on the Peugeot. Only a few more days until Blood Drive V!
